De katholiciteit van de kerk

16 ambt en gemeenschap van elkaar worden losgemaakt komt de katholiciteit van de kerk onder grote druk te staan. Op dit punt pleit het voor het ‘Church’- document dat het een brug slaat naar het BEM- rapport, waarbij het, helaas, voor het persoonlijk episkopè minder aandacht heeft dan het BEM- rapport 7 . Woord en Geest, Schrift en Traditie Geloof wordt middels het Woord gewekt door de werkzaamheid van de Heilige Geest. Die werkzaamheid van de Geest kunnen we ontdekken in de Schrift en aan het werk zien in de Traditie van de Kerk. 8 Het interessante is dat deze vier realiteiten (Gods Woord, de Geest, de Schrift, de Traditie) op elkaar worden betrokken en in een bepaalde verhouding tot elkaar worden gepresenteerd. Is het zo dat de klassieke (en vermeende) tegenstelling tussen ‘Schrift en Traditie’ verschoven is naar een nieuwe 7 BEM-rapport, Baptism-Eucharist-Ministry, WCC, Lima 1982, par 37: In churches which practise the succession through the episcopate, it is increasingly recognized that a continuity in apostolic faith, worship and mission has been preserved in churches which have not retained the form of historic episcopate. This recognition finds additional support in the fact that the reality and function of the episcopal ministry have been preserved in many of these churches, with or without the title “bishop”.
